How to Dictate Into the EMR

Artisan provides two dictation tools - Nuance's Dragon Dictation and Google Voice.

Google Voice is free and available to all EMR users, but will not provide the high level of medical dictation accuracy offered by Dragon. If you are interested in using Dragon, please contact Artisan.

How to Select a Dictation Tool for Every User

Go to the Gear menu, select EMR Settings and then select Manage Staff Accounts.

Click on the pencil icon corresponding to the staff member to be edited.

Choose the preferred dictation method: Dragon (if you are signed up for this service) or Google.  Click the X to save and exit this page.

How to Dictate using Different user Privileges into the Progress Note

1. Google Voice Administrative and Clinic Admin Users

When using Google Voice the microphone is in "off mode" by default. The microphone icon has a hash mark through it. Click on the microphone icon to start dictating.

Note: Dictation feature will only work if you have a microphone built-in or connected to your computer and laptop.

 

Dictate into the field. Click the microphone icon when you are finished dictating and the text will appear in the field.

Click Save to save your entry into the medical record.

Please note: Google Voice does not provide text editing tools. You will have to manually review and edit the text.

You will need to digitally sign your progress note.

The note is now part of the medical record under progress notes.

2. Google Voice Practitioner, Clinic Staff, and Lab Staff users with Advanced Progress Note Privileges.

Zoom:

Click the paper + icon to create a an advanced progress note.

1. Select the template that you wish to use by clicking the drop down icon.

2. Click the microphone icon to start dictating.

The microphone icon will turn into a green color indicating that it is on and capturing your dictation. Click the Next button.

Click Save.

Enter your Digital Signature then click Ok.

You have successfully added a note using the dictation feature within the advanced progress notes.

You may dictate anywhere in Artisan where you see a microphone icon.

Dragon Dictate Users

New users will need to create an account before using the Dragon service. Please contact support@artisanfertility.com to do so.  

• Dragon Dictate users: Click the microphone icon to open a dialog box. Click the red microphone button and proceed to dictate.
  
  Click Save & Exit to commit your text.

Dictation-enabled fields have a microphone icon in the upper right corner. Click the microphone icon to open a dialog box:
